Tokiosake reached the States in 2008 when Sun’s daughter opened its first location in Deer Park, Illinois. She had chosen to spell Tokyo as “Tokio,” emphasizing her intent to open a fusion cuisine, allowing locals to experience traditional Japanese dishes as well as modern dishes in one setting. “Sake” refers to Japanese rice wine, a delicacy that can be tasted at Tokio Sake. One can taste the savory dishes created from Sun’s years of experience and June’s perfected artistry in sushi at Tokio Sake Japanese Restaurant.
